This Oral Presentation Skills workshop is intended for those who need to prepare and deliver oral presentations. You will receive training in PowerPoint design, how to pace your delivery, voice production, using microphones and tips on how to make your presentation effective.

This individually tailored Oral Presentation Skills workshop is intended for those who need to prepare and deliver oral presentations. You will receive training in PowerPoint design, how to pace your delivery, voice production, using microphones and tips on how to make your presentation effective. Before the workshop, you will be expected to prepare a 7 minute presentation illustrated with PowerPoint slides. During the workshop, you will have a chance to give your presentation and receive constructive feedback from the workshop leader. The workshop leader will share with you his years of experience in giving oral presentations and will pass on to you some key ‘tricks of the trade’.

 

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is intended for individuals who already have some experience of giving oral presentations of their work and making PowerPoint slides but who need to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills.

 

By completing this workshop you will be able to:

  • Target your audience
  • Seize and hold your audience’s attention
  • Use PowerPoint efficiently
  • Speak effectively using a microphone
  • Better control your emotions and reflexes during your talk

Tricks of the trade

  • Making and keeping contact with your audience
  • How to be heard (voice production & using microphones)
  • Dealing with nerves, pacing and the importance of silence

10:30–10:45

Coffee break

10:45–11:15

  • Using PowerPoint slides effectively
  • How to use laser pointers

Dealing with questions, and troublesome attendees

11:15–12:30

Workshop session 1: Participants revise their presentations

12:30–13:30

Lunch

13:30–18:00

Workshop session 2: Participants give their presentations, feedback and discussion

18:00–18:15

Presentation of certificates and close

 

The number of attendees is limited to enable the Workshop leader to give you special, one-to-one instruction; a maximum of 15 participants will be allowed to register.
